"WHY SO GENEROUS?" , YOU MIGHT ASK?
In 1st Corinthians, Chapter 9, Paul repeatedly makes some radical statements. He maintains that he had the right to "live of the gospel". He goes to great pains to uphold this right and even defends its usage by the other apostles from the Law.
Nevertheless, he forsakes and repudiates this right, which he declares he had more right to invoke than the other apostles, and continued to work.
We endure all things so as not to be a hindrance to the gospel of Christ. v.12
I would rather die than make my preaching vain. v.15
I am under compulsion to preach the gospel. v.16
I preach the gospel free of charge. v.18
So that I might become all things to all men. v.22
So that I might be a fellow partaker of the gospel. v.23
What was it that so constrained and inspired Paul? It was not the innate nobility of his character (he was, after all, the self-confessed "chiefest of sinners"), nor was it his august responsibility as an apostle. No! It was the very message which he had been raised up to herald that seized him.

The Lord Jesus Christ to the money changers, Matthew 21:13. "My Father's house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves." So, precious heart, do not let yourself be caught in the exchange!
